Questions you have asked

Why does the Lake Tahoe Camp Meeting start on a Monday?

The main reason for our Monday start is the campgrounds are available and ready for us to use on that date.  An additional benefit is for those of you who like to attend both the Redwood Camp Meeting and Lake Tahoe Camp Meeting; you will be able to go to both with no scheduling conflict.

Are tents provided for campers to rent?

No.  You may bring your tent or camper and stay on the grounds, or reserve lodgings nearby.  The campgrounds include shower and bathroom facilities.  There is RV camping with full and partial hookups available at a campground within walking distance. Reservations for the campground with RV hookups have to be made before May 1.

Are pets allowed on the campgrounds?

No pets are allowed on the campgrounds.  This is a policy of Camp Richardson.

May I bring my bicycle?

You are certainly welcome to bring a bicycle for riding on the bike trail by the lake, but please remember that bicycles are not to be ridden within the campgrounds. They raise dust and can be a hazard to pedestrians rounding corners. Adults and children who walk their bicycles to the gate before riding them are much appreciated by the rest of the campers.

Are meals available?

Delicious meals are provided by Elizabeth and Lynn Hoag. Meals are $7.00 each, with desserts and beverages extra. Children under age five are free. Many vegan choices. Sabbath meal tickets should be purchased by Friday noon.

The breakfast buffet includes assorted cereals, breads, bagels and muffins.  There are also jams, spreads, fresh fruit, juices, milks (including Silk) and hot beverages.  Specials of the day include Toasted Pecan Waffles and Warm Berry Compote, Potato Latkes, Bacon and Scallion Quiche, Hash Browns, Scrambled Eggs or Tofu, French Toast, Fruit Oatmeal, and Creamy Polenta.

The main meal is served for lunch.  You will enjoy such enticing-sounding vegetarian treats as Artichoke Wellington, Bombay Chicken Potpie, Chicken Enchiladas, Gado Gado (Indonesian Haystack), Penne Pasta, Sweet & Sour Meat balls.

Dinner includes a Basic Salad Bar along with Veggie Burgers, Hot Dogs, Soups, Health Club Sandwiches, Artichoke/Pesto Pizza, Potato Salad, Chili and Cornbread, Haystacks, with Watermelon every evening.

What is available for children and young people?

Programs for Primary age and older begin Monday night, with programs for Cradle Roll and Kindergarten beginning Tuesday morning. Nature walks and lakeshore activities ensure an enjoyable time for all ages. Click here for the schedule.

Why do campers keep returning, year after year?

The Lake Tahoe Camp Meeting is organized by Seventh-day Adventist church members in California and Nevada and approved by the Nevada-Utah Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  It is supported by free-will offerings of those who wish to see this ministry continue.  We're small, have a beautiful location among the trees along the shores of Lake Tahoe, and enjoy this wonderful opportunity to come away and rest awhile, fellowship with other believers, and learn what it means to be "Heaven Bound."

What else can I find there?

Various booths inhabit Ministry Lane, where you can learn about Academies, Colleges, and self-supporting gospel work.  If you would like to have a booth, well be happy to send you an application (sorry, no food-selling booths, please).

The Adventist Book Center tent will have books for adults, teens and children, CDs, DVDs, and cases of many kinds of veggie products available, all at special camp meeting prices.

What's this about bears?

Note from the Camp Richardson Resort owners:  Please be aware that Camp Richardson Resort & Marina has an abundance of wildlife: squirrels, ducks, raccoons and bears, to name a few. Please, while you are visiting Camp Richardson, don't feed any animals. Never leave food out on a picnic table, in a tent or on a porch. All food, coolers and food containers should be put away. Garbage should be disposed of in animal-proof dumpsters. If these simple rules are followed, the wildlife in our area will not pose a threat to campers.
